Backgound. The purpose of this scientific study is to show the possibility of using specific methods for the analysis of regional development, primarily for students and undergraduates of higher educational institutions.
Мethods. The theoretical basis of this work was the research work devoted to the theoretical and methodological aspects of the
use of econometric methods in the practice of public authorities, the scientific activities of students and undergraduates of higher educational institutions. The methodological basis is the classical general scientific research methods: analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, generalization and classification, economic and mathematical methods, as well as comparative and system analysis.
Conclusions. As a result of the study, the main directions of improving the competitiveness of the regional economy were identified.
